Community update
How to get involved with 900 Helmcken
Dear Friend,
We have one request this week – for you to forward this to as many people as possible.
On Wednesday, September 16th, we're holding our Residents Forum. This is the one chance for our community to come together, in person, in one room, and make our voices impossible to ignore. If you do one thing with us this entire campaign, let it be this.
Here's why it matters so much. We've spent months telling the Province that this decision was made without us, and they've shown no intention of hearing us out.
Consulting this community was their job, one they still haven't done. This forum doesn't let them off the hook for it, and it isn't us doing their work for them. This isn't a consultation, it's a stand. It's our whole community in one room, showing the people behind this decision just how organized and determined we are, and putting them on notice that we're not backing down.
We've extended invitations to:
- Minister of Health, Josie Osborne
- Vancouver Coastal Health, Dr. Patricia Daly
- MLA Vancouver-Yaletown, Terry Yung
- Mayor of Vancouver, Ken Sim
- Vancouver Chief of Police, Steve Rai
- Addiction Researcher, Dr. Julian Somers
Whether they show up or not, we will. And we'll keep showing up until this community gets the say it was denied.
Three ways to take part:
- Attend: RSVP to save your seat: https://crystal351639.typeform.com/to/IPWZS4wx
- Speak: Let your story be heard. You can apply to speak at the forum when you RSVP.
- Share: Invite 5 friends or neighbours. They don't need to live here, anyone who cares about transparency and accountability belongs in the room.
The details:
- When: Wednesday, September 16th - doors at 5:00pm, program at 6:00pm
- Where: Sheraton Wall Centre, Pavilion Ballroom (1000 Burrard Street)
